Wuthering Waves Yangyang Xuanling Build Guide: Weapons, Echoes, and Best Teams
Yangyang: Xuanling, often called Yangyang SP or simply Xuanling, is currently described as a 5-star Havoc Sword Main DPS in Wuthering Waves. Her kit focuses on stance switching, Heavy Attack damage, and consistent Havoc Bane application. Instead of playing like a simple quick-swap damage dealer, Xuanling wants a proper on-field window where she can build resources, rotate between sword stances, and convert Havoc Bane stacks into stronger Havoc damage.
This guide is based on the June 30, 2026 reference article from LootBar and currently available pre-release information. Xuanling's final numbers, weapon effects, Echo values, and team rankings may still change before or after official release, so treat this as a build-planning guide rather than a final damage chart.

Xuanling Resonator Overview
| Category | Details |
| Character | Yangyang: Xuanling / Xuanling |
| Rarity | 5-star |
| Element | Havoc |
| Weapon | Sword |
| Role | Main DPS, Heavy Attack DPS, Havoc Bane DPS |
| Core Damage Sources | Heavy Attacks, Forte Circuit, Resonance Liberation, Shadow of Xuanling follow-up damage |
| Key Stats | Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK%, Havoc DMG Bonus, around 120% Energy Regen |

Xuanling's gameplay revolves around two stances: Azure Sword Stance and Feather Sword Stance. She builds and spends Melody through her stance-based attacks, then uses Sword Stance Flow to switch stance, restore Melody, and gain Azure Plume. Once Azure Plume reaches its limit, she can unleash a powerful stance-based Heavy Attack.
Her Resonance Liberation, Hush of a Thousand Voices, works as a major burst tool. It spends Melody, deals heavy Havoc damage, raises Havoc Bane stacks on enemies it hits, and enables additional Shadow of Xuanling follow-up damage during the next part of her rotation.
Xuanling Gameplay and Playstyle
Xuanling is not a character you want to swap in for one button and immediately leave the field. She performs best when the team gives her a clean damage window:
1. Use teammates first to apply buffs, healing, shields, debuffs, or coordinated effects.
2. Swap to Xuanling and begin her stance cycle with Basic Attacks and Resonance Skill usage.
3. Use Sword Stance Flow to switch between Azure Sword Stance and Feather Sword Stance.
4. Build Azure Plume and release her empowered Heavy Attack.
5. Use Resonance Liberation to push Havoc Bane stacks and create a stronger burst window.
6. Refresh team buffs, then repeat the cycle.
Xuanling can apply Havoc Bane by herself, which makes her more self-sufficient than a DPS who depends entirely on a dedicated debuff support. However, teammates who can apply Havoc Bane or other useful negative statuses still increase her ceiling by making her follow-up damage and damage amplification easier to maintain.
Xuanling Skill Priority
| Priority | Skill | Reason |
| Highest | Forte Circuit | Drives her stance loop, Heavy Attacks, and most of her core on-field damage. |
| Highest | Resonance Liberation | Provides a large Havoc burst and improves Havoc Bane stack pressure. |
| High | Resonance Skill | Used often in both stances and helps keep the rotation smooth. |
| Low | Normal Attack | Useful for base scaling and nodes, but much of her real damage is tied to Forte Circuit behavior. |
| Low | Intro Skill | Lower damage impact compared with the rest of her kit. |
The recommended upgrade order is Forte Circuit = Resonance Liberation > Resonance Skill > Normal Attack > Intro Skill. If resources are limited, invest in the skills that directly support her stance cycle and burst first.
Xuanling Best Weapons
Xuanling wants Sword weapons that provide Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK%, Heavy Attack DMG, or direct synergy with Havoc Bane. Weapons that improve Heavy Attack damage are especially valuable because her main damage window is built around empowered Heavy Attacks.
| Rank | Weapon | Why It Works |
| 1 | Azure Oath | Xuanling's signature weapon. It offers 588 Base ATK, 24.3% Crit Rate, All-Attribute DMG Bonus, Heavy Attack amplification, and partial DEF ignore after applying Havoc Bane. |
| 2 | Emerald Sentence | A strong 5-star alternative with Crit Rate and Heavy Attack synergy through Echo Skill timing. |
| 3 | Emerald of Genesis | A stable general 5-star Sword with Crit Rate, Energy Regen, and ATK. Less specialized, but very reliable. |
| 4 | Red Spring | Strong stats, though its Basic Attack focus is less ideal than direct Heavy Attack support. |
| 5 | Lumingloss | One of the better 4-star options. After using Resonance Skill, it boosts Basic Attack and Heavy Attack damage. |
| 6 | Fables of Wisdom | A usable 4-star alternative that gains value when enemies are consistently affected by negative statuses. |

Azure Oath is the cleanest choice because every major part of the weapon supports Xuanling's intended playstyle. If you plan to main her long term, her signature weapon is likely the best premium investment after securing the character. For a lower-spend setup, Emerald Sentence, Emerald of Genesis, or a refined Lumingloss can still support a strong build.
Xuanling Best Echo Set
Xuanling should generally use a 43311 Echo setup. Her best sets are the ones that support Havoc Bane, Heavy Attack damage, and Havoc damage. Older Havoc-oriented sets can work during the transition period, but her best-in-slot setup is expected to be the new set built around Havoc Bane.
1. Song of Feathered Trace
Song of Feathered Trace is currently Xuanling's best Echo set.
| Echo Set | Key Effect |
| 2-piece | Energy Regen +10% |
| 5-piece | After inflicting Havoc Bane, grants Xuanling's Feather, increasing Crit Rate and Heavy Attack DMG Bonus. After inflicting Glacio Chafe, it can also provide a team ATK bonus based on Energy Regen. |
| Recommended Main Echo | WuWa 3.5 Calamity Class Echo |

This set is strong because Xuanling can trigger Havoc Bane herself. The Crit Rate and Heavy Attack bonuses directly improve the part of her kit that matters most, making Song of Feathered Trace the top farming target for a serious Xuanling build.
2. Thread of Severed Fate
Thread of Severed Fate is a strong alternative if you do not have a completed Song of Feathered Trace set. It rewards Havoc Bane application with ATK and Resonance Liberation DMG bonuses, making it better for burst-heavy rotations.

This is a good transition set for players who already have solid pieces or want to lean more heavily into Xuanling's Liberation damage. It is not expected to beat Song of Feathered Trace in a fully optimized Heavy Attack build, but it is far from a bad choice.
3. Havoc Eclipse
Havoc Eclipse is the simplest budget or transition set. It provides Havoc DMG and stacks additional Havoc DMG after Basic Attacks or Heavy Attacks, which fits Xuanling's on-field pattern well enough.

If you already own strong Havoc Eclipse pieces, you can use them while farming the new set. Long term, Xuanling should still prefer Song of Feathered Trace for the stronger Heavy Attack and Havoc Bane synergy.
Xuanling Best Echo Stats
Echo Main Stats
| Cost | Main Stat |
| 4 Cost | Crit Rate / Crit DMG |
| 3 Cost | Havoc DMG Bonus |
| 3 Cost | Havoc DMG Bonus / ATK% |
| 1 Cost | ATK% |
| 1 Cost | ATK% |
If your weapon already gives enough Crit Rate, a Crit DMG 4 Cost Echo becomes more attractive. If your Crit Rate is low, prioritize Crit Rate first. Xuanling's strongest moments come from empowered Heavy Attacks, so missing crits during those windows can feel very punishing.
Echo Sub-Stats
| Priority | Sub-Stat |
| High | Energy Regen to around 120% |
| High | Crit Rate / Crit DMG |
| High | ATK% |
| Medium | Heavy Attack DMG Bonus / Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus |
| Low | Flat ATK |
Do not overstack Energy Regen at the cost of damage. Around 120% is a good planning target, then most of your sub-stat value should go into Crit and ATK.
Xuanling Best Team Comps
Xuanling works best with teammates who can apply Havoc Bane, improve Heavy Attack damage, boost Havoc damage, or provide stable healing and team buffs. The goal is to give her enough field time to complete her stance rotation while keeping buffs active during her empowered Heavy Attacks.
1. Xuanling Havoc Bane Premium Team
| Role | Character | Recommended Echo Set |
| Main DPS | Xuanling | Song of Feathered Trace |
| Sub-DPS / Support | Chisa | Moonlit Clouds / Rejuvenating Glow / Thread of Severed Fate |
| Sustain / Support | Suisui | Song of Feathered Trace / Rejuvenating Glow |

This team is built to maximize Xuanling's Havoc Bane and Heavy Attack output. Chisa contributes support or secondary damage, Suisui keeps the team stable, and Xuanling takes the main on-field DPS window.
2. Xuanling Alternative Premium Teams
| Team | Best Use |
| Xuanling + Phrolova + Suisui | Strong for players who want more Havoc or Heavy Attack pressure. |
| Xuanling + Rebecca + Chisa | A more support-oriented setup with smoother buff coverage. |
| Xuanling + Lynae + Chisa | Useful if your account is already invested in Lynae-based teams. |
| Xuanling + Iuno + Chisa | A flexible premium setup for extra buffs and a smoother damage window. |

These teams keep Xuanling as the primary DPS while using the second and third slots to supply debuffs, buffs, coordinated damage, or sustain. Your final choice should depend on your account investment, not only theoretical rankings.
3. Xuanling F2P or Transition Team
| Role | Character | Recommended Echo Set |
| Main DPS | Xuanling | Song of Feathered Trace |
| Sub-DPS | Mortefi | Moonlit Clouds |
| Sustain | Verina | Rejuvenating Glow |

This team is easier to assemble and works well as a transition setup. It will not necessarily match the ceiling of a dedicated Havoc Bane premium team, but it gives Xuanling the basic support she needs to perform her rotation.
Xuanling Best Resonance Chains
| Chain | Value | Summary |
| S1 | Good | Adds control, interruption resistance, and extra Shadow of Xuanling damage, improving both damage and comfort. |
| S2 | Very Good | Strengthens core Heavy Attack actions and improves rotation consistency. |
| S3 | Best Stopping Point | Greatly increases Resonance Liberation damage and improves Havoc Bane stack generation and stack ceiling. |
| S4 | Good | Adds a teamwide ATK buff, useful but less direct for Xuanling's personal damage than S2 or S3. |
| S5 | Okay | A survival chain that can prevent a fatal mistake, but does not improve damage. |
| S6 | Best / Whale Target | Raises her Heavy Attack ceiling and adds powerful follow-up damage triggered by multiple negative statuses. |
For most players, S0 Xuanling should already be playable and complete. If you want Resonance Chains, S2 and S3 are the most meaningful investment points. If your budget is limited, prioritize the character, then a suitable weapon, then Echo quality.
Is Xuanling Worth Pulling?
Xuanling looks appealing if you need a Havoc Main DPS or enjoy stance-based characters with a structured rotation. Her ability to apply Havoc Bane by herself gives her a strong baseline, while premium teammates and Song of Feathered Trace can push her ceiling higher.
However, if your account already has a highly invested Havoc DPS, or if you dislike longer on-field rotations, it is safer to wait for final testing. Her real value will depend on final multipliers, how easily teams maintain Havoc Bane coverage, and how consistently her best Echo set performs in live combat.
Overall, Xuanling's build direction is clear: use Crit and Heavy Attack focused weapons, farm Song of Feathered Trace, aim for around 120% Energy Regen, then stack Crit and ATK, and build teams around Havoc Bane plus stable on-field time. If her final kit remains close to current information, she should be a strong Havoc Heavy Attack DPS with excellent scaling potential.
